Iflix 3.0 Now Launch Free Tier In Malaysia

iflix was founded by Patrick Grove, CEO of Catcha Group, Mark Britt and Evolution Media, a merchant bank focused on the media, sports, and entertainment industries.

It is a subscription video on demand (VOD) service focused on emerging markets. The new iflix 3.0 is set to bring a few changes to the streaming service, starting with a free tier.

Viewers will also get programmes made locally from around the region and original iflix content, plus a line up of premium short form content from Qyou and Complex Media.

The free tier gives viewers iflix Originals, which will include the upcoming action-packed series KL Gangster: Underworld a spin-off from the popular Malaysian movies as well as stand-up comedies, Oi! Jaga Mulut, and Jon Atherton: Disoriental; as well as Coconuts TV, an original docu-series uncovering the underbelly of Asian subculture.

Local football fans can also enjoy live Liga Super, Piala FA, Piala Malaysia, Piala Sumbangsih matches via Football Malaysia. There will also be regional and international TV series, including The Grand Prince, My First Love, Poroporo, Tayo The Little Bus and more.

It’s expected to be rolled out in the third quarter, iflix Free is part of the company’s strategy to move away from the traditional Subscription Video on Demand service.

The site serves as a digital hosting and distribution platform for Western, Asian, and Middle Eastern TV shows and movies obtained through partnerships with over 150 studios and content distributors globally.
